As Eisenhower toured as many of the German concentration and death camps as he possible could with the Signal Corps, he was led by former prisoners. When he visited Ohrdruf (one of the satellite labor camps associated with Buchenwald, and the first to be liberated by western forces) it was no different.
The man on the right of the photograph led Patton and Eisenhower on the tour of Ohrdruf camp claiming to be a former prisoner. Later however, it was discovered he was not - incredibly surprising considering the detailed knowledge he possessed.
General Patton later wrote Eisenhower with the details:
It may interest you to know that the very talkative alleged former member of the murder camp was recognized by a Russian prisoner as a former guard. The prisoner beat his brains out with a rock.
