Mildred Gillars, otherwise known as Axis Sally, the American voice of Nazi Germany, after her apprehension by the CIC (Counter Intelligence Corps).
She was formally rearrested in January 1947 at the request of the US Justice Department where she was extradited from occupied Germany. In 1949 Gillars (along with her fellow Italian-American cohort, Rita Zucca) was charged with 10 counts of treason and eventually put on trial for 8 counts of treason. A jury of Gillars peers found her guilty of one count of treason, sentenced her to 10-to-30 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
