A woman, identified as Cub Scout troop leader Ingrid Loyau-Kennett, confronts one of two suspects who moments before viciously beheaded a British soldier on a street in London in what government officials called a “terror-related” incident. The attackers had claimed responsibility for the murder, saying on camera “The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying every day. This British soldier is an eye for an eye a tooth for tooth.” Loyau-Kennett, who wasn’t hurt, is also captured on video telling one of the men “Right now it is only you versus many people. US Marines begin packing up in Afghanistan

U.S. Marines had been active in Helmand since the spring of 2008, when a pre-surge Marine company inserted by helicopter into the Taliban stronghold of Garmser. 

Over the past five years, successive Marine units pushed Taliban fighters from their dug-in positions in the “Green Zone,” the fertile, built-up areas along the Helmand River.

Fighting in the birthplace of the Taliban was often fierce – at least 500 Marines died, more than 4,500 were wounded – the highest casualties among U.S. fighting forces in Afghanistan. But now it was almost over. 

By July this year, Afghan forces will be in charge of security throughout the country. And by the end of 2014, U.S. Marines will be out of Afghanistan and back at their home bases.

Osama bin Laden's son-in-law and Al-Qaida spokesman captured in Jordan

Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law, who acted as a spokesman for al-Qaida, was captured in Jordan, and has been transported to New York where he will appear in court as early as Friday to face terror-related charges, several U.S. officials told NBC News on Thursday.

Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, who appeared alongside bin Laden in a 2001 video in which they took responsibility for the 9/11 attacks, will be charged under an indictment that is still under seal.
