Pilots of the RAAF arrive in London in December 1939 in the war. Australia (along with other Commonwealth nations) declared war on Nazi Germany following the declarations of France and Britain in September 1939. In comparison, it would take a Japanese surprise attack and Adolf Hitler to declare war on the United States in December 1941 before they’d join the war in Europe.
