February 2010

Wake up in the morning feeling like David Webster, grab my pen, I'm out the door gonna hit Arnhem, before I leave I brush my teeth with some Harvard Literature rap, because when I'm shot on the dike, I've gotta go back

darlingfred:

YES, THIS JUST HAPPENED.

I think I may be in love with you.

“We fall upon the horizon; we fall upon the grass,

We never land upon our feet; we always hit our ass,

Hidey, hidey, Christ Almighty, who the hell are we,

Rim-Ram, Goddamn, we’re Airborne Infantry!”

what how how how

sorry i’m reblogging you every fucking second, but i need to know HOW

I have a sound editing program so I just stripped the audio from the episode and then cut/did awesome legit producer magic before finally transferring it to my blackjack.

I make all my ringtones LMAO I have the Christian Bale “Bale Out” as my alarm and Webster yelling about Ford and General Motors as another alarm.

GOD Webster FTW

I’m trying to find some clips on ze internets to bluetooth over to my phone. Right now my ringtone is the Will & Grace theme song LMAO

LMAO best ringtone ever then???

I alway feel awkward when mine rings in public and I get all flustered :( it’s my own fault but I can’t help having them

January 2010

“Those Americans who believed that we could live under the illusion of isolationism wanted the American eagle to imitate the tactics of the ostrich. Now, many of those same people, afraid that we may be sticking our necks out, want our national bird to be turned into a turtle. But we prefer to retain the eagle as it is — flying high and striking hard.” —FDR, radio broadcast 02/23/1942

omg I forgot how fucking amazing it is.

and hello Ron Livingston.

WTF when did that come out?! I went to Fry’s last week and it wasn’t there yet! I NEED TO OWN IN MY HANDS RIGHT NOW

like a month ago! I found it at Best Buy for $19 since they didn’t have Saving Private Ryan :(

I just got Private Ryan on Bluray the other day, and I’m looking around for The Thin Red Line, maybe Patton too. BUT SRSLY A MONTH AGO?! I still have it on my TiVo so I can watch Bert Stiles ;___;

aw what the hell, nobody around me has SPR but I think Target has Patton sale for $10 if I remember correctly. and LOL yeah, the regular price is like $34.99 so I jumped on $19

13 words not found in the English Language

sisterspock:talosix:streamsofmoonlight:

1. Waldeinsamkeit (German): the feeling of being alone in the woods

2. Ilunga (Tshiluba, Congo): a person who is ready to forgive any abuse for the first time, to tolerate it a second time, but never a third time

3. Taarradhin (Arabic): a way of resolving a problem without anyone losing face (not the same as our concept of a compromise – everyone wins)

4. Litost (Czech): a state of torment created by the sudden sight of one’s own misery

5. Esprit de l’escalier (French): a witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs…

6. Meraki (Greek): doing something with soul, creativity, or love

7. Yoko meshi (Japanese): literally ‘a meal eaten sideways’, referring to the peculiar stress induced by speaking a foreign language:

8. Duende (Spanish): a climactic show of spirit in a performance or work of art, which might be fulfilled in flamenco dancing, or bull-fighting, etc.

9. Guanxi (Mandarin): in traditional Chinese society, you would build up good guanxi by giving gifts to people, taking them to dinner, or doing them a favour, but you can also use up your gianxi by asking for a favour to be repaid.

10. Pochemuchka (Russian): a person who asks a lot of questions

11. Tingo (Pascuense language of Easter Island): to borrow objects one by one from a neighbour’s house until there is nothing left

12. Radioukacz (Polish): a person who worked as a telegraphist for the resistance movements on the Soviet side of the Iron Curtain

13. Selathirupavar (Tamil): a word used to define a certain type of absence without official leave in face of duty

I feel that “Waldeinsamkeit” was invented just for Bastogne and the Ardennes.
